JFK deep groove ball bearings

JFK ball bearings

  • High speed
  • Combined loads
  • Lifetime lubricated

Deep groove ball bearings are bearing elements for rotating shafts designed to support radial and axial loads in both directions, even at high speeds. Their deep-groove design and optimized contact between raceways and balls make them the most versatile and widely used rolling bearings in industry, providing a reliable solution for the vast majority of applications with a rotating inner ring.

JFK Group offers single-row and double-row deep groove ball bearings in a complete range of sizes, designs, and sealing materials. Shielded or sealed versions are lifetime lubricated and maintenance-free. Available as open bearings, with steel sheet shields (Z/ZZ), or with single- or double-lip contact seals (RS/2RS), with cages made of pressed steel, polyamide, or solid brass depending on the series and size.

Compared with other types of rolling bearings, deep groove ball bearings are the ideal choice when high speeds, quiet operation, and low friction are required for moderate loads. Double-row deep groove ball bearings offer the same versatility with increased load capacity, while requiring less axial space than a pair of separate bearings.

Versions

How to choose the right deep groove ball bearing

The choice between single-row and double-row versions mainly depends on the required load capacity and the available axial space. Both versions support radial and axial loads in both directions and are available with the same sealing options.

  1. Single-row deep groove ball bearings

The most widely used and versatile version. Simple, non-separable design, suitable for high speeds with minimal maintenance. Available in numerous variants: tapered bore, stainless steel, high-temperature, inch-size, thin-section, miniature, flanged, and with a snap-ring groove. Cages are available in pressed steel, reinforced polyamide 6.6, or solid brass. Versatile · High speed · Wide range of models

  2. Double-row deep groove ball bearings

Equivalent in design to two single-row deep groove ball bearings, with the balls contained in a single cage made of glass-fibre-reinforced polyamide. They offer the same ability to support radial and axial loads in both directions at high speeds, with increased load capacity in a reduced axial space. Available in open, shielded (ZZ), or contact-sealed (RS/2RS) versions. Double-row · High load capacity · Reduced axial space

Performances

Design and performance features

The deep-groove design and optimized contact between raceways and balls ensure reliable performance across a wide range of operating conditions.

Benefit

Load

High radial and axial load capacity They support radial and axial loads in both directions thanks to the deep grooves. For JFK Group, the minimum load must be greater than 2% of the dynamic load rating.

Benefit

Speed

Ideal for high rotational speeds Among the rolling bearings best suited for high speeds, thanks to their low internal friction and simple design. Versions with polyamide 6.6 cages can operate at temperatures up to +120°C.

Benefit

Lubrication

Lifetime lubricated in sealed versions Versions with shields (Z/ZZ) or seals (RS/2RS) are lifetime lubricated and maintenance-free. They must not be washed or heated above 80°C.

Benefit

Seal

Choice of shields or seals Steel sheet shields (Z/ZZ) forming a labyrinth with the inner ring. Metal-reinforced NBR contact seals (RS/2RS). Sealed versions are suitable for temperatures from –40°C to +100°C, with peaks up to +120°C.

Benefit

Internal clearance

Standard CN clearance as standard Products supplied with normal internal clearance (CN) as standard. Reduced clearance C2 or increased clearance C3/C4 available on request. Normal standard tolerance class (PN), with P6 and P5 available on request for larger sizes.

Benefit

Cages

A variety of options to suit every need Pressed steel sheet (standard), reinforced polyamide 6.6 (TN, up to +120°C), solid brass centered on the balls (M), centered on the outer ring (MA), or in one-piece design (MAP).

Mounting

Installation of deep groove ball bearings

Deep groove ball bearings are mounted with an interference fit on the shaft and with clearance in the housing. For tapered-bore versions, installation on cylindrical shafts is possible using adapter or withdrawal sleeves. Shielded or sealed versions must not be washed or heated above 80°C.

Installation Mounting

  1. Direct press fit on the shaftUsing a mounting tool that applies the force to the inner ring. Never apply mounting force through the rolling elements.
  2. Heating the inner ringFor larger sizes, heat the deep groove ball bearing to a maximum of +80°C to facilitate installation on the shaft.
  3. Installation with adapter sleeve (tapered bore)For bearings with a tapered bore: quick installation on cylindrical shafts without additional axial locking devices.
