JFK thrust ball bearings

JFK ball bearings

  • Easy installation
  • Pure axial loads
  • Separable design

Thrust ball bearings are support elements designed to withstand pure axial loads acting in one direction. The separable design – shaft washer, housing washer, and ball cage assembly – allows individual component mounting and simplifies installation and replacement operations.

JFK Group offers single-direction thrust ball bearings in the 511, 512, 513, and 514 series with flat washers, and in the 532, 533, and 534 series with spherical washers for applications where a certain degree of misalignment may occur. The latter can be installed directly on spherical seats or combined with U2, U3, or U4 series support plates.

Thrust ball bearings must not be subjected to radial loads. When the load is mainly axial but includes a radial component, or when the load capacity of thrust ball bearings is insufficient, cylindrical roller thrust bearings or spherical roller thrust bearings should be considered.

Versions

How to choose the right thrust ball bearing

The choice mainly depends on the presence or absence of misalignment between the shaft and housing. Series with flat washers are the standard solution, while those with spherical washers are suitable for applications where perfect perpendicularity of the supporting surfaces cannot be guaranteed.

  1. Thrust ball bearings with flat washers

Series 511, 512, 513, and 514. Single-direction design for axial loads acting in one direction. Separable structure with shaft washers, housing washers, and ball cage assembly that can be mounted separately. The standard solution for applications with supporting surfaces perfectly perpendicular to the axis. Pure axial loads · Separable · Easy installation

  2. Thrust ball bearings with spherical washers

Series 532, 533, and 534. Same single-direction design, with spherical housing washers that compensate for angular misalignment between supporting surfaces. Suitable for direct installation on spherical seats or in combination with U2, U3, and U4 support plates. Misalignment compensation · Spherical washers · Support plates available

Performances

Design and performance features

Simple design, with installation simplified by the separable structure, suitable for high axial loads acting in one direction.

Benefit

Load

Pure axial loads in a single direction Designed exclusively for single-direction axial loads. They must not be subjected to radial loads. For applications where the axial load exceeds the capacity of ball thrust bearings, roller thrust bearing versions should be considered.

Benefit

Construction

Separable design for simplified installation The components – shaft washer, housing washer, and ball cage assembly – can be mounted separately. This significantly simplifies installation and maintenance operations.

Benefit

Speed

Suitable for low and medium speeds The axial ball bearing design is optimal for low and medium speeds. For high-speed applications with high axial loads, spherical roller thrust bearings should be considered.

Benefit

Misalignments

Spherical washer versions to compensate for alignment errors The 532/533/534 series with spherical washers accommodate angular misalignment between supporting surfaces, eliminating the need for precision machining of the contact surfaces.

Benefit

Internal clearance

Standard and upon request Products supplied with standard internal clearance as standard. Normal standard tolerance class (PN).

Mounting

Installation of thrust ball bearings

Thrust ball bearings feature a separable design: the shaft washer, housing washer, and ball cage assembly can be mounted separately. The supporting surfaces must be perfectly perpendicular to the bearing axis. For versions with spherical washers, perpendicularity errors can be compensated for by using U2, U3, or U4 support plates.

Installation Mounting

  1. Installation methodsThanks to the separable design, the shaft washer and housing washer can be installed independently, simplifying installation even in confined spaces.
  2. Installation with support plates (spherical washers)For the 532/533/534 series: U2, U3, or U4 support plates compensate for deviations from perpendicularity of the contact surfaces.
