JFK Cylindrical roller bearings

JFK roller bearings

  • High load capacity
  • High radial load capacity
  • Separable

Cylindrical roller bearings are separable radial bearings featuring cylindrical rollers as rolling elements. The line contact between rollers and raceways provides a substantially higher radial load capacity than ball bearings, while offering limited axial load capacity. The various designs, differing in the arrangement of the bearing ribs, allow the appropriate level of axial locating to be selected according to the application requirements, from free axial displacement to axial fixation in both directions.

JFK Group offers single-row and double-row cylindrical roller bearings. The single-row range includes N, NU, NJ and NUP designs, as well as special RN and RNU designs without an outer or inner ring. The double-row full complement design is suitable for very high radial loads at low and medium rotational speeds and is available in the NNCL, NNCF, NNC and NNF50 series. Cylindrical roller bearings are widely used in transmissions, mechanical presses, electric motors, pumps, compressors and steel industry applications.

Versions

How to Choose the Right Cylindrical Roller Bearing

The selection between single-row and double-row designs mainly depends on the required load capacity and operating speed. Both versions feature a separable design and are available in various axial locating configurations.

  1. Single-row cylindrical roller bearings

Available in four main designs: N design: two ribs on the inner ring, allowing free axial displacement in both directions. NU design: two ribs on the outer ring, allowing free axial displacement in both directions. NJ design: two ribs on the outer ring and one rib on the inner ring, providing axial location in one direction. NUP design: two ribs on the outer ring, one integral rib and one loose rib on the inner ring, providing axial location in both directions. Special RN (without outer ring) and RNU (without inner ring) designs are also available for hardened and ground raceways machined directly on the shaft or housing. Cages are available in polyamide 6.6 (TVP) or solid brass (M). High radial load capacity · Various axial locating configurations · Separable design

  2. Double-row full complement cylindrical roller bearings

The maximum number of rollers is accommodated within the available space to achieve the highest possible radial load capacity. Suitable for low to medium rotational speeds. Available in NNCL designs (free axial displacement), NNCF designs (axial location in one direction), NNC designs (axial location in both directions) and NNF50-2LS-V designs (seals on both sides, relubricatable). The rings are equipped with lubrication grooves and relubrication holes. Maximum radial load capacity · Full complement design · Low and medium rotational speeds

Performances

Design and performance features

The line contact between rollers and raceways provides high radial load capacity and structural rigidity across a wide range of designs.

Benefit

Tolerances

Normal (PN) as standard Products are supplied with Normal tolerance class (PN) as standard. P6 and P5 tolerance classes are available upon request.

Benefit

Load

High radial load capacity The line contact between rollers and raceways ensures a substantially higher radial load capacity than ball bearings. For JFK Group, the minimum required load is 2% of the dynamic load rating (4% for full complement designs).

Benefit

Axial locating arrangement

Configurable by design The arrangement of the bearing ribs defines the axial locating capability: from free axial displacement (N, NU), to axial location in one direction (NJ), or in both directions (NUP). This flexibility allows cylindrical roller bearings to be adapted to different mounting configurations.

Benefit

Speed

Medium to high speeds · Single-row version The caged single-row version is suitable for medium to high operating speeds, while the full complement version is designed for low to medium rotational speeds. The minimum required load must be maintained, especially at high speeds.

Benefit

Internal clearance

CN internal clearance as standard; C2, C3 and C4 clearances available on request Products are supplied with standard CN radial internal clearance. Reduced C2 clearance, increased C3 clearance and greater C4 clearance are available. Components belonging to the C1 clearance group are not interchangeable.

Benefit

Cages

Polyamide or solid brass Polyamide 6.6 cages (TVP) are suitable for most applications, while solid brass cages (M) are recommended for series 4 and for more demanding operating conditions.

Mounting

Mounting of cylindrical roller bearings

Cylindrical roller bearings feature a separable design: the ring with ribs, together with the roller and cage assembly, can be separated from the other ring, greatly simplifying mounting operations. During start-up at high temperatures, an additional radial load must be applied to the bearing.

Installation Mounting

  1. Installation methodsThanks to the separable design, the inner ring and the outer ring with roller and cage assembly can be mounted independently, greatly simplifying installation even where space is limited.
  2. Special RN/RNU designsFor applications with hardened and ground raceways directly on the shaft (RNU) or housing (RN), a larger shaft diameter can be used, providing increased strength and structural rigidity of the bearing arrangement.
