JFK compensation rings
JFK Locking rings
- Play-free bearing mounting
- Various diameters and thicknesses
JFK compensation rings, also known as compensation springs, are mechanical components designed for play-free mounting of ball bearings, ensuring assembly precision, stability, and proper load distribution within the system. Thanks to their controlled elasticity, they compensate for dimensional tolerances and axial variations between mating components, helping maintain the correct bearing preload and improving the dynamic performance of the application.
The use of compensation rings allows higher operating speeds, reduced noise and vibration, improved wear resistance, and extended component service life, even under demanding operating conditions or continuous-duty cycles.
Made of high-performance spring steel, JFK compensation rings are available in different diameters and thicknesses to suit various application requirements, ensuring precision, reliability, and easy installation.

Controlled elasticity in spring steel for dimensional tolerance compensation and consistent preload over time.
Function
Play-free bearings mounting They enable play-free axial mounting of ball bearings, ensuring the correct preload and assembly precision.
Elasticity
Controlled for tolerance compensation The controlled elasticity of spring steel compensates for dimensional tolerances and axial variations between mating components, adapting to operating conditions.
Material
High-performance spring steel Made of spring steel to ensure elasticity, fatigue resistance, and long operating life, even under demanding conditions.
Performances
Reduction of noise, vibration and wear Eliminating axial clearance reduces noise and vibration, improves wear resistance, and extends the service life of the bearings and the overall application.
Availability
Available in a wide range of diameters and thicknesses to suit different application requirements and different types of ball bearings.
Mounting
Installation of compensation rings
The compensation ring is positioned between the locknut (or the housing shoulder) and the bearing face, before final tightening. The ring thickness should be selected according to the residual axial clearance measured during assembly, to achieve the specified preload without overloading the bearing.
Installation Mounting
- Measurement of axial clearanceBefore installing the ring, measure the residual axial clearance between the bearing and the mating component to select the most suitable compensation ring thickness.
- Positioning and clampingInsert the ring into the designated seat and proceed with the final tightening of the locknut or locking component, checking that the resulting preload is within the values specified by the bearing manufacturer.
