JFK Locking rings
Precision axial locking and positioning
Compensation rings and Seeger retaining rings for all axial fastening requirements.
JFK rings are precision mechanical components for axial locking and positioning of bearings and other components on shafts and inside bores. The range is divided into two main families: compensation rings for play-free mounting of ball bearings, and Seeger retaining rings, also known as snap rings or circlips, for fast and secure axial locking. Both types are made of high-performance steel and are available in a wide range of sizes.

Two types for every axial locking requirement
Compensation rings to eliminate play when mounting bearings. Seeger retaining rings for quick locking on shafts and inside bores.
TECHNICAL COMPARISON
Which ring for which application
Concise comparison of the main parameters: function, material, installation, and typical application. For specific sizing requirements, the JFK technical team is available to provide direct support.
| Type | Function | Material | Mounting | Elasticity | Typical application |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Compensation rings | Play-free bearing preloading | Spring steel | In the bearing housing | Controlled for tolerance compensation | Motors, gearboxes, drive systems |
| Seeger retaining rings | Quick axial locking | Hardened steel | Groove mounting on shafts or in bores | Elastic for installation with pliers | Locking of bearings, gears, and pulleys |
SELECTION GUIDE
Start by identifying the operating conditions
The choice depends on the required function: controlled preload for bearings using compensation rings, or quick locking using Seeger retaining rings. Start with the operating condition that best describes your application.
Mounting of bearings with no axial clearance
When it is necessary to eliminate axial clearance during bearing installation, reducing noise, vibration, and wear.
Axial locking on shafts
For axial locking of bearings, gears, and pulleys in external grooves on shafts.
Axial locking in housings
For axial locking of components inside housings, using internal grooves in the bore.
Frequent assembly and disassembly
The open-ended design and installation with dedicated pliers allow for quick removal and reinstallation without damaging the component.Have a specific requirement?
