JFK Seeger retaining rings
JFK Locking rings
- For shafts and bores
- Various sizes and finishes
JFK Seeger retaining rings – also known as snap rings, circlips, or Seeger rings – are essential mechanical components for the proper operation of many types of machinery. Made of hardened steel, they are used in a wide range of industrial applications, from automotive to machinery manufacturing, thanks to their high resistance to tensile loads and deformation.
Featuring a circular design with open ends, snap rings allow for quick and easy installation and are the ideal choice for the axial locking of cylindrical components such as bearings, gears, pulleys, and other components on rotating shafts or inside bores.
JFK Group offers retaining rings in a wide range of sizes to suit various shaft and bore diameters, with different surface finishes available to enhance corrosion resistance and extend service life.
Versions
How to choose the right Seeger retaining ring
The choice between shaft and bore versions depends on the mechanical configuration of the application: shaft rings are installed in dedicated external grooves on the shaft, while bore rings are installed in internal grooves in the housing.
Shaft retaining rings
Installed in external grooves machined into the shaft. The open circular design allows quick installation using dedicated pliers. They provide axial locking of components, preventing movement in one or both directions depending on the configuration. Available in various sizes for shafts ranging from a few millimetres to large diameters. External shaft groove · Quick installation · Various diameters
Bore retaining rings
Installed in internal grooves machined into the housing or bore. The open circular design allows installation using dedicated internal retaining ring pliers. They provide axial locking of components from inside the housing. Available in various sizes for bores ranging from a few millimetres to large diameters. Internal bore groove · Installation with dedicated pliers · Various diameters
Performances
Design and performance features
High-strength hardened steel and an open-ended design for fast, secure, and easy-to-remove axial locking.
Material
High-strength hardened steel Made of hardened steel to ensure high resistance to tensile loads and deformation. The hardening process provides the elastic properties required for installation and proper operation.
Function
Quick and secure axial locking Designed to provide a safe and effective method of securing components in place. Long service life and reliability even under extreme working conditions.
Mounting
Simple and quick with dedicated pliers The circular design with open ends allows for quick and easy installation of snap rings using dedicated shaft or bore pliers. No machining operations are required beyond the groove.
Finishes
Various finishes for corrosion resistance Available in a range of surface finishes to optimise corrosion resistance according to the operating environment and extend the component’s service life.
Dimensions
A wide range for shafts and bores of all diameters Available in a wide range of sizes to suit various shaft and bore diameters, covering most standard industrial applications.
Mounting
Installation of Seeger retaining rings
Installation of Seeger retaining rings requires dedicated pliers: external retaining ring pliers for rings installed in external shaft grooves, and internal retaining ring pliers for rings installed in internal bore grooves. Check that the groove complies with standard dimensions before installation.
Installation Mounting
- Shaft installation with external retaining ring pliersExternal retaining ring pliers compress the ring for insertion into the groove on the shaft. Check that the ring is fully seated in the groove before releasing the pliers.
- Bore installation with internal retaining ring pliersInternal retaining ring pliers compress the ring for insertion into the groove inside the housing. Check that the ring is fully seated and free from permanent deformation.
