JFK roller bearing housings
JFK bearing units
- High radial load capacity
- Misalignment compensation
- Harsh conditions
- High structural strength
JFK roller bearing housings are cast iron units designed to accommodate spherical roller bearings in applications subject to high radial loads, heavy stresses, shocks, vibrations, and severe environmental conditions. Compared with ball bearing housings, they offer superior structural robustness and are designed to withstand the heaviest loads in heavy industry.
JFK Group offers housings for spherical roller bearings in the most common configurations: pillow block, flange, and cartridge housings. The cast iron housing provides high mechanical strength and good damping capacity. Misalignment compensation is provided by the integrated spherical roller bearings, which accommodate significant angular misalignment without compromising performance. Each unit is supplied complete with bearing, seals, and lubricant.
Versions
How to choose the right roller bearing housing
The choice of configuration depends on the available mounting structure and the direction of the loads to be supported.
Spherical roller bearing housings
Also known as roller bearing pillow block housings, these units are mounted on horizontal surfaces with the shaft parallel to the mounting surface. This is the standard configuration for most heavy-duty industrial applications. Cast iron housing with integrated lubrication holes and grease fitting. Horizontal mounting · Standard configuration · Cast iron pillow block housings
Flange bearing housings
Mounting on walls, vertical structures, or surfaces perpendicular to the shaft. Available with two or four mounting holes. Cast iron housing with integrated lubrication holes and grease fitting. Wall mounting · Two or four mounting holes · Cast iron
Cartridge bearing housings
For existing cylindrical housings. The cylindrical housing body is inserted into the housing by pressing or with an interference fit. Suitable for installations where the structure already features a cylindrical housing. Cylindrical body · Existing housing · Cast iron
Performances
Design and performance features
Cast iron housing with integrated spherical roller bearings for high radial loads and severe operating conditions.
Load
High radial loads and demanding operating conditions Designed to withstand high radial and moderate axial loads in applications subject to shocks, vibrations, and severe environmental conditions. Higher load capacity than ball bearing housings.
Misalignment compensation
Dynamic misalignment compensation through spherical roller bearings The integrated spherical roller bearings accommodate significant angular misalignment between the shaft and housing, even during operation, without compromising performance.
Construction
Cast iron for maximum robustness The cast iron housing provides high mechanical strength, good vibration damping capacity, and long service life, even under the most severe operating conditions.
Lubrication
Lubrication hole with integrated grease fitting Equipped with a lubrication hole and integrated grease fitting for periodic bearing relubrication. The relubrication frequency depends on the operating conditions.
Configurations
Pillow block, flange, cartridge Available in the three main configurations to suit any mounting structure.
Mounting
Installation of spherical roller bearing housings
Roller bearing housings are secured to the structure using bolts through the mounting holes in the housing. The shaft is inserted into the bearing bore and secured using set screws or a locking ring on the inner ring. Misalignment compensation is provided by the integrated spherical roller bearings, which self-align automatically during installation and operation.
Installation Mounting
- Securing the housing to the structureSecure the housing body to the structure using bolts through the designated mounting holes. For cartridge housings, press the housing body into the cylindrical bore using a suitable tool.
- Shaft insertion and securingInsert the shaft into the bearing bore. Secure the inner ring to the shaft using set screws or a locking ring. The self-aligning bearing automatically compensates for misalignment.
- Initial lubricationCheck the grease level in the bearing before commissioning. Add grease through the grease fitting if necessary. Establish the relubrication interval based on the operating conditions.
