JFK bearings for bearing units

JFK bearing units

  • Misalignment compensation
  • Self-aligning ball and spherical roller bearings
  • Spherical or cylindrical surface
  • Relubricable

Bearing inserts are self-aligning bearings – either ball or spherical roller bearings – specifically designed for installation in dedicated bearing units. Their main feature is the spherical or cylindrical outer surface, which allows them to compensate for alignment errors between the shaft and housing, reducing wear and stress on the components. Relubricable versions are available with lubrication holes in the outer ring, allowing periodic relubrication through the housing grease fitting.

JFK Group offers ball and spherical roller bearing inserts in a wide range of sizes, covering the complete range of housings in its product portfolio. They are the ideal solution for replacing only the bearing inside an existing housing or for configuring a customized unit by combining a housing and bearing with the characteristics best suited to the application.

Versions

How to choose the right bearing for bearing units

The choice mainly depends on the required load capacity and the type of housing used.

  1. Ball bearing inserts

Self-aligning ball bearings with a spherical outer surface for installation in dedicated housings. Suitable for moderate loads with compensation for static misalignment. Available in relubricatable versions with lubrication holes in the outer ring. To be combined with JFK ball bearing units. Self-aligning ball bearings · Moderate loads · Relubricable

  2. Roller bearing inserts

Spherical roller bearings with a spherical outer surface for installation in dedicated housings. Suitable for heavy loads and demanding operating conditions, with dynamic misalignment compensation. Available in relubricable versions with lubrication holes in the outer ring. To be combined with JFK roller bearing units. Self-aligning roller bearings · Heavy loads · Relubricable

Performances

Design and performance features

Spherical outer surface for misalignment compensation and lubrication holes for periodic relubrication through the housing grease fitting.

Benefit

Misalignment compensation

Spherical outer surface The spherical outer surface compensates for alignment errors between the shaft and housing, reducing wear and stress on the components. Roller bearing inserts accommodate more significant misalignment than ball bearing inserts.

Benefit

Load

Ball bearing inserts for moderate loads · Roller bearing inserts for heavy loads Ball bearing inserts are suitable for moderate loads, while roller bearing inserts are designed for heavy loads and more demanding operating conditions. The choice depends on the application and the bearing unit used.

Benefit

Lubrication

Relubricable through lubrication holes in the outer ring Available with lubrication holes in the outer ring that connect to the housing grease fitting, allowing periodic relubrication without removing the bearing.

Benefit

Compatibility

With JFK bearing units for ball and roller bearing inserts Designed to be paired with the corresponding JFK bearing units. Dimensions comply with industry standards to ensure interchangeability with compatible bearing units from other manufacturers.

Benefit

Use

Replacement or custom configuration Ideal for replacing only the bearing in an existing housing or for configuring a customized bearing unit by selecting the bearing best suited to the application.

Mounting

Installation of bearing inserts

Bearing inserts are mounted in the housing bore, with the spherical outer surface positioned in the spherical bore of the housing. Locking is achieved using set screws on the inner ring or a locking ring, depending on the housing configuration. The lubrication holes in the outer ring must be aligned with the housing grease fitting.

Installation Mounting

  1. Insertion into the housingInsert the bearing into the spherical bore of the housing, ensuring that the spherical outer surface is correctly positioned. The bearing self-aligns automatically to compensate for any misalignment.
  2. Securing to the shaftSecure the inner ring to the shaft using set screws or a locking ring. Before final tightening, ensure that the lubrication holes in the outer ring are aligned with the housing grease fitting.
