JFK relubricable rod ends

JFK rod ends

  • Male or female threaded shank
  • Integrated grease nipple
  • Regular maintenance

JFK relubricable rod ends are articulated joints consisting of a threaded shank and a spherical head housed in a corresponding spherical bearing seat, allowing rotation and angular oscillation to accommodate misalignment between the connected components. They feature an integrated grease fitting for periodic relubrication of the spherical bearing seat, maintaining smooth movement over time and reducing friction-induced wear.

Thanks to the combination of a threaded shank and spherical head, JFK relubricable rod ends transmit tensile and compressive forces along rods and tie rods, while allowing the rotation and angular oscillation required when the connected components are not perfectly aligned. They are available with male or female threaded shanks to suit different mounting configurations. They are available in two material combinations (steel/steel and steel/bronze) and, on request, in AISI 316 stainless steel. All sizes comply with DIN 648 K and UNI ISO 12240 standards.

Versions

How to choose the right rod end

Le versioni differiscono per materiale, capacità di carico, temperatura massima e condizioni d’impiego.

  1. Rod ends with male threaded shank

The shank terminates in an external thread for direct screwing into a threaded hole in the component to be connected. Available with right-hand or left-hand threads for use in adjustable tie rods with double-ended connections. Series: SA..E / SA..ES (steel/steel) and JAM (steel/bronze).

  2. Rod ends with female threaded shank

The shank features an internal threaded hole for mounting onto a threaded stud or through-bolt of the component to be connected. This solution is suitable when the connecting component is already provided with an external thread. Series: SI..E / SI..ES (steel/steel) and JAF (steel/bronze).

Performances

Design and performance features

Hardened spherical head housed in a spherical bearing seat with an integrated grease fitting for periodic relubrication.

Benefit

Oscillation

Angular misalignment compensation The spherical head housed in the corresponding spherical bearing seat allows rotation about the shank axis and angular oscillation to accommodate misalignment between the connected components.

Benefit

Thread

Male or female shank, right or left Available with male or female threaded shanks, and with right-hand or left-hand threads for use in adjustable tie rods with opposed connections. The steel/bronze version features a long external thread for adjustment.

Benefit

Lubrication

The grease fitting allows periodic relubrication of the spherical bearing seat, maintaining smooth movement over time and reducing friction-induced wear.

Benefit

Material

Hardened steel for the shank and spherical head The shank and spherical head are made of hardened steel to ensure resistance to tensile and compressive loads and wear, even under dynamic loading conditions. In the steel/steel combination, the sliding surfaces are hardened and treated with running-in lubricant; in the steel/bronze version, the hardened and chrome-plated steel spherical head oscillates against a bronze ring.

Benefit

Load

Suitable for axial tensile and compressive loads The shank-to-spherical-head configuration effectively transmits tensile and compressive forces along the axis of the rod or tie rod to which it is connected. Particularly suitable for applications involving alternating and shock loads.

Mounting

Installation of relubricable rod ends

Installation is carried out by screwing the shank into the connecting element, applying the specified tightening torque for the thread. After installation, apply the initial grease charge through the integrated grease fitting before putting the component into service.

Installation Mounting

  1. Initial and periodic greasingApply the initial grease charge through the integrated grease fitting before putting the component into service, then repeat the operation at the specified intervals according to the operating conditions.
