JFK radial spherical plain bearings

Compliant with DIN 648

  • High radial load capacity
  • Three maintenance versions

JFK radial spherical plain bearings are mechanical components designed to withstand high radial loads, such as those encountered in hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders. The design consists of an inner ring with a cylindrical bore and an external spherical sliding surface, and an outer ring with a cylindrical outer surface and a concave internal spherical sliding surface. For sizes up to 300 mm, the outer rings are axially split during the hardening process.

JFK Group offers radial spherical plain bearings in three versions: requiring maintenance (steel-on-steel pairing), relubricable (steel/bronze or hard chrome/PTFE pairing), and maintenance-free (hard chrome/PTFE pairing). All dimensions comply with DIN 648 E and DIN 648 K and are interchangeable with other metric products.

They are used in gardening and packaging equipment, bottling machinery, automation systems, fitness equipment, pneumatic cylinders and palletisers.

Versions

Three versions: how to choose the right radial spherical plain bearing

The choice mainly depends on the available maintenance conditions, the operating environment, and the magnitude of the load.

  1. Radial spherical plain bearings requiring maintenance

    Pairing: steel-on-steel. Compliant with DIN 648 E and ISO 12240-4. Particularly suitable for high radial loads. Require periodic grease lubrication. Series: GE..E and GE..ES · GEG..E and GEG..ES · GEEW..ES · GEEM..ES 2RS. Steel/steel · High radial loads · Periodic lubrication

  2. Relubricable radial spherical plain bearings

Pairing: steel/bronze or hard chrome/PTFE. Compliant with DIN 648 K and ISO 12240. Suitable for pharmaceutical, chemical, food, motorcycle, and marine applications. Equipped with a lubrication hole for periodic relubrication. Series: JS. Steel/bronze or hard chrome/PTFE · Multi-sector · Relubricable

  3. Maintenance-free radial spherical plain bearings

Pairing: hard chrome/PTFE. Compliant with DIN 648 K and ISO 12240. A PTFE-containing glass-fiber-reinforced plastic sliding layer is injection-molded between the housing and the inner ring. Particularly suitable for constant, unidirectional loads without shock loads. Series: GE..C and GE..ET 2RS · GEG..C and GEG..ET 2RS · JET. Hard chrome/PTFE · Maintenance-free · Constant unilateral loads

Performances

Design and performance characteristics of radial spherical plain bearings

Spherical design for freedom of angular movement, with high radial load capacity available in three maintenance versions.

Benefit

Load

Designed to withstand the high radial forces typical of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders. The steel/steel version requiring maintenance offers the highest load-bearing capacity.

Benefit

Pairing

Three versions available Steel/steel for versions requiring maintenance; steel/bronze or hard chrome/PTFE for relubricatable versions; hard chrome/PTFE for maintenance-free versions.

Benefit

Maintenance

Maintenance-requiring and relubricable versions require periodic lubrication with grease. Maintenance-free versions with PTFE do not require lubrication throughout their entire service life.

Benefit

Compliance

All dimensions comply with DIN dimensional standards and are interchangeable with other metric products.

Benefit

Materials

AISI 316 stainless steel available on request Available on request in AISI 316 stainless steel for corrosive environments or those with high hygiene requirements.

Mounting

Installation of radial spherical plain bearings

Radial spherical plain bearings do not require any special installation procedures. The outer ring is press-fitted into the housing, while the spherical surface of the inner ring allows free angular movement. Lubricate maintenance-required versions before commissioning.

Installation Mounting

  1. Installing the outer ring in the housingPress-fit the outer ring into the housing using a tool that applies force evenly to the ring face. Never apply force through the spherical surface.
  2. Initial lubrication (versions requiring maintenance)For versions requiring maintenance and which can be relubricated, carry out the initial lubrication before commissioning, then repeat at the specified intervals.
