Sealing rings, O-rings, and NILOS rings: the complete range for retaining lubricants and protecting against contaminants.

JFK sealing systems include sealing rings (oil seals), O-rings, and NILOS rings designed to prevent the leakage of lubricants and fluids while protecting internal components from contaminants. Made from NBR, FKM/Viton®, PTFE, and other elastomers, they cover a wide range of operating conditions in terms of temperature, pressure, and type of movement.

Three types for every sealing requirement

The three types differ in the type of movement to be sealed and the component on which they are mounted. Sealing rings are designed for rotating shafts, O-rings for static or dynamic applications, and NILOS rings are mounted directly on bearings.

Sealing rings (oil seals)

Sealing for rotating shafts · NBR, FKM/Viton®, PTFE · Static and dynamic versions

Lip seals, or oil seals, designed for dynamic sealing on rotating shafts. Used in engines, pumps, and gearboxes to retain lubricants and exclude contaminants.

O-rings

Circular cross-section · Static and dynamic applications · Compact design

Circular-section sealing elements, also known as O-rings, for hydraulic and pneumatic applications, with a compact design suitable for limited spaces and high pressures.

Nilos rings

Bearing sealing · Contaminant protection · Lubricant retention

Sealing rings mounted directly on bearings to protect them from dust and external contaminants while retaining the internal lubricant.

SELECTION GUIDE

How to choose the right sealing system

The choice of sealing system depends on operating temperature, type of movement, chemical compatibility with the fluid, and operating pressure. Start with the condition that best describes your application.

Temperature range: -40°C to +120°C

NBR covers most standard industrial applications; for high temperatures, FKM/Viton® is the preferred choice, while PTFE is suitable for extreme operating ranges.

Alternative movements and high pressure

O-rings provide reliable sealing even under internal pressure, which enhances their sealing effect, and are suitable for reciprocating movements. Their compact design also makes them suitable for applications where space is limited.

Chemical compatibility with the fluid

The elastomeric material must be assessed on a case-by-case basis: the material in contact with the fluid must be selected on the basis of chemical compatibility: FKM/Viton® for aggressive oils, PTFE for the most extreme cases.

Direct bearing protection

When protection is required directly on the bearing rather than on the shaft or in the housing, NILOS rings combine lubricant retention and contaminant protection, providing a dedicated sealing solution.
